When hooking up my cable box to my TV. Is it truly better to use HDMI over component?
My TV is an HD 1080p flat pannel. my cable is through comcast. I've heard that the box only sends a 720p signal, and that the componets will work just as good as the HDMI. Is this true?
First, there is noTV above 1080i.
Second, component cables are capable of carrying 1080P with virtually no difference with HDMI.
Third, there are devices that refuse to output 1080P unless a HDMI cable is used. That doesn't mean that Componeny cables can't carry 1080P.
Fourth, in your case, there is no reason to use an HDMI cable.
Fifth, your cable box can be set to output various resolution signals. You should set it to pass through so that whatever the resolution of the show, that's the resolution of the signal to your TV.
