Does the Microsoft HMDI cable support TV's that run 240hz?
When I played Bad Company 2 on our 1080p 240hz LED, everytime I moved it seemed to lag or tear a little bit. I remember when I switched to the HMDI channel on my TV it said it was running 60hz...Is this a fix for the TV or do I need to buy a new HDMI cable that can support 240hz>
The above is absolutely correct. To flesh it out just a bit more, your television is telling you what the incoming signal is. Your game console (XBOX or PS3 I assume) is outputting at 60Hz. Very few sources output at a framerate other than 60 or 24. The television then interpolates the additional frames. For best results in gaming, I would turn off the anti-judder software in the set. You didn't list brand and each manufacturer calls it something different ... Samsung is Auto Motion Plus, Sony is Motion Flow ... Those are the only two I know off the top of my head. You can google search if your TV is something else.
