Are all the HDMI cables the same?
I bought a new HD TV and the guy at best buy told me I needed a HDMI cable so I bought one and then the next day I went to Bright House and got the HD cable box and it came with a HDMI cable, so I'm wondering if there is a difference in the $50 HDMI cable I bought over the HDMI cable the company gave me. The cable I bought is 1080p and 120hz, because that is what my TV is and on the cable I got from the cable company doesn't specifiy if its 1080p or 720p. Or are they all the same? I'm not sure.
Hi swk0726.....I say they are not the same...not in actual quality performance,but in the quality of the way that there made...the more expensive cables have dearer materials that are used to make their cables more protective from other cable's for multi cable use application's...If you have a studio or a mega home theater set-up and have a great deal of equipment...what comes with that? A lot of cables...you need the expensive cables to combat the electrical interverance's and you could not get away with that with el cheapo cables, fact!...you can get away with using el cheapos in a smaller application e.g tv to ps3 or a small # of components in a small home theater set up etc...thats the difference...the main problem i have encountered in the early days by using el cheapos in a large applied environment was...they were causing "hum"....changed to more expensive cables...no more "hum noises"...So your not going to notice the difference in a small electrical environment (small home theater) between el cheapo Vs expensive hdmi cables....Merry Xmas.
