PS3 HDMI cable help, please?
i bought this HDMI cable for my ps3, Sony - HDMI Cable / USB 2.0 Cable Pack for PlayStation 3. it's also found here at this site, http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stor… or at bestbuy.com. i have heard that there at different HDMI cables that support different HZ from 60Hz, 120 Hz, and now 240Hz. at the moment i do not own a 240Hz tv but am thinking about buying one. however, i have heard that only some cables only support 60Hz/120Hz, but not 240Hz. i have been trying to seach all over trying to find out what this cable supports. it's not listed on this product on the sony site or on bestbuy....or the box. if someone could please let me know or at least explain to me what i need to really be looking for in a HDMI cable, i would really appriciate it.
i asked this question last night and got some good answers but i asked it around midnight so i didnt get but 1 or 2. just looking for some more feedback
What happened is a long time ago when HDMI was first proposed for use in HDTV they only tested the cable at 720p 60 hz this was OK until they came out with 1080p at that time some people started questioning the standard and the cables to see if they were compatible with 1080p..well it turned out that when they tested some cables at 1080p they were getting signal loss with some cables in runs longer than 25 feet but not with others...so cables that have been tested at 1080p are now called category 2 certified with a 1.3 version a lot of manufactures will advertise that way or will say how fast there cable has been tested...if the cable does not say it does not mean it will not work only that it hasn't been tested...now they are also testing for bit rate called high speed say High-Speed 10.2 gbps / 340 MHz usually better cables will say all this in the advertising but if it doesn't usually means that the cable hasn't been tested not that it can't do it...a new standard is coming out for 3D TV called category 3 1.4 cables basically they are the same cables just a new testing....these things shouldn't matter unless you are doing runs longer than 25 feet...
