Ps3 Questions and features?
Okay, so ive always know the ps3 is the far better choice than the 360, but its always been too much... NOW that both products cost $300 i want to get a ps3. I know most of the techincal stuff, and all of the "tricks" the console companys use to rip you off, but I have some questions.
There is an internet browser availible/is it free?
Built in WIRELESS INTERNET support?
TOTALY FREE online play? (like xbox live)
Can I hook this up to a home network and sync music/video?
"EVERYTHING", i stress... IS EVERYTHING INCLUDED TO HOOK THIS UP DIRECTLY TO A MODEM (ethernet cat5e cable) ALSO IS EVERYTHING INCLUDED FOr WIRELESS HOOK UP TO COMCAST?
Any techincal differances with PS3 slim vs the normal one besides the larger hard drive on the slim?

Yes, the browser is free. You have your own Comcast internet, so nothing additional is needed.
Yes, has built in Wi-Fi.
Yes, free. No extra charge like Xbox Live. Most things in the PSN store like add-on content isn't free. Demos are free, though. PSN uses actual dollars and not points. Gotta use a PSN card from stores or a valid credit/debit card.
Yes, though some programs work better than others.
No, it does not have EVERYTHING. You need your own internet equipment, including Ethernet cables and/or routers if needed. The Wi-Fi is literally in the console, so you'll need your own wireless router or modem and set it up on the PS3 and depending on your home setup the PC accordingly. Whether or not it includes an Ethernet cable seems to depend on the store. Sony themselves DO NOT include any internet equipment other than the built in Wi-Fi and in most cases stores do not incluce Ethernet cables. Its best to just get your own just to make sure.
Not much difference. Mainly cosmetic stuff. The Slim runs a little more efficiently and has smaller weight/size. No option to install Linux, but includes Bravia Sync for syncing to Sony Bravia HDTVs.
1 HDMI port. You shouldn't need more than one.
Charging stations are available separately for about $20 or so at most Target and Wal-Mart stores, but they are not required. The PS3 includes a mini USB to USB cable to charge the controllor. Just charge when the battery dies. Cycle the battery properly and the battery life between charges should be about 30-40 hours or so assuming you don't use the Dualshock rumble and a battery lifetime (when it stops recharging) should be a couple years or so. I'm told its not terribly difficult to replace the battery even though you're not supposed to. Regardless if you replace the battery or buy another controller, you save money either way.
MAG comes out in January or February I think.
