why cant i see HD channels with my Comcast HD cable box?
I got the Comcast HD cable box, and i can see the regular 480i channels, but when i switch to a HD channel, i cant see the picture, but i can hear then audio, and it changes to 1080i. my tv is a Dynex 22" 720p (not the best, but its something) im using component cables, will switching to HDMI cable fix the problem?
When I had Comcast HD service 4 months ago, the extra fee I paid for the HD DVR automatically got me access to the HD channels in my subscription package. They were all 9xx-count channels, i.e. my standard def NBC channel 3 was 903 in HD. The number scheme may be different in your area.
But that's how it should work for you if you've paid for and obtained a Comcast HD box, and you have any type of 720p TV.
It's very curious that you're not seeing the HD picture, but SD is okay. Remember that the HD channels don't always transmit in HD. Many of the daytime or syndicated programs on HD channels are SD. Make sure you're trying to view a real HD program, like the NBC evening news or almost any prime time program on a major network.
If that doesn't solve it, I'd want to temporarily borrow another HD set from somewhere and try it on that cable box. If you get the same result, it's time to call Comcast (and good luck with that). If the 2nd TV works okay, you may need to recycle the Dynex.
