Using HDMI DVI adapter for PS3. How can I have audio now?
I am switching from Component to DVI for my video connection on my PS3.
I will be using an HDMI to DVI adapter, since my TV only has DVI.
My question is, the audio runs through the HDMI cable, but when I use the adapter, only video transfers to DVI. How do I get audio onto the TV? Will it even work (with audio)?
Would I be better off getting a Monster Cable for component instead?
The reason why I'm upgrading is because I'm getting fuzz/static on the screen from my PS3, but not other devices plugged into my component input (like my 480p DVD player).
If you are forced to use dvi then you are actually using an hd monitor not tv. Connect the av cord that came with the system as well as having the hdmi connected . The use the audio part of the cord to connect to a sound system such as stereo. Then on the ps3 goto settings then sound settings then select audio output av instead of hdmi. Leave the display video settings on hdmi.
THen on the stereo or reciever that the av audio is connected to select corresponding aux input. Crank up the volume and have fun.
You can also use optical audio output as well if your reciever supports it.
