New TV electrical short when connected to cable box or home theater HDMI.?
Older house with 2-wire electrical service. A 2->3 prong adapter is in place, and screwed to the box. Current tv (2-prong) works fine. New LCD tv has an electrical short which trips the breaker. If the tv is plugged in and not connected to the cable box, everything is ok. As soon as connected by coax to the cable box, or HDMI to the home theater receiver -> bzzt! having a qualified electrician come out to put in a 3-wire outlet. Could this be a problem with the way the cable is grounded? Or is this an issue with a grounded outlet? Thanks!
First, check the ground on your incoming tv cable.
