Insignia HD DV HDMI camcorder,,,help w/ charging and turning on! please!?
ok, so i have had this Insignia camcorder for about a year now and i havnt used it yet bc the cord that i found that fit into the camcorder didnt fit into my mac. so i was looking through tons of usb cables and i found one that fit into my mac and into the insignia. I also found a charger that when i plug it into the camcorder and into the wall a blue light lights up on the plug on the wall. yesterday when i pluged it in to charge i would try turning it on and it would just flash "insignia" on the screen then cut off. right now, i just pluged it in and its not doing that. does it need to charge for longer? how long? am i even using the right cord? if im not could you please give me a site that you can buy the cord on? is the insignia hd dv hdmi camcorder even compatible for apple macs?

btw when i plug it in the camcorder is not showing any flashing or staying light, what does this mean?

It sounds like you might have several problems going on. First is the camera charged? It need a good 16 hours to fully charge the battery. also you have not used the camera in 1 year. The battery could be totally bad by lack of use. It also sounds as though you got the camera second hand because you could';t find the right cables. If so you might have the wrong cables and truly not charging the battery. This could explain why you had activity before and not now. The battery finally died.
second, Is the camera compatible with a Mac? Yes the camera is compatible. There should be no problem using imovie with the camera.
I would look at the camera for all of the numbers on it and start putting them into a google search. Once you find the model see if the charger is right and all of the cables are right. You may have the right fitting on the cable but no the right voltage. You possible could have killed the camera with the wrong power system.
to check the power system plug it in and turn on the camera. If the Camera doesn't turn on the power system is not working. Which it sounds like what you have described.
