older mac mini dvi-hdmi problem?
I have hooked up my older intel mac mini to a LCD TV with a dvi -hdmi cable.
I start the mac and all is fine the start up window appears.
When the mac is up to speed the screen goes blank a Not Supported format message appears.
How can I change the mac's format with the screen blank? I have tried force quit and the enter key but nothing seems to work.
I know the cable and telly work cos I have hooked up my mac book pro.
Think that's about it.

You had set your Mac Mini to run at a resolution too high for your LCD TV to handle. That is why your TV gives you the Not Supported Format message when the Mac Mini finishes booting.
Re-connect your Mac Mini to the monitor that worked with it before, and drop its screen resolution down to something your LCD TV can handle, then shut down. Then turn it on after connecting it to your LCD TV. It should work then.
EDITED TO ADD: Not sure what you meant when you say you tried to "reset" the Mac.
