Home Theater HDMI issues. What is the best way to hook up?
We just got a Samsung Home Theater System, and we also have a Samsung HD tv. We would like to hook up both our digital cable box (hdmi) and our PS3 (hdmi) to our home theater systems receiver. Problem is, it only has one HDMI output and no inputs. We purchased a digital optical cable, but since there is only one of these outputs as well, we have to keep switching the cable to either the PS3 or the cable box. Is there an easier way to do this where we don't have to switch cables around?
Receiver definately does not have any HDMI inputs...just one output for HDMI and one for optical.
Firstly HDMI carries audio as well so you wont need to switch the optic audio. Just leave that in the PS3 and use the HDMI for video and audio.
Are you sure the home theatre system only has HDMI and optical outputs???? Seems a bit weird that a home theatre receiver doesnt have inputs.
If it has inputs which it should, then;
You need an HDMI selector switch.

You will have to use it in reverse
