PLEASE!! HELP!!
Trying get up to date reviews and opnions on new front projectors in stock and coming out!! Got any info please give us anything you might know!!
If you have a dedicated home theater room and can control the ambient light, front projection is definitely the way to go. I've had a projector in my living room for 2 1/2 years and I'm glad I went that route.
The pros are: the picture is AWESOMELY HUGE and gives you the feeling of being in the scene like nothing else. I'm projecting to 96" diagonal measure from 11 feet away -- and it cost me about $2k. It's a Sanyo Z2 (720p), which is the best they had back then for a reasonable price, but the picture is still fabulous.
You will probably want to buy both DVD/Blu Ray and a digital TV or digital cable/sat to run signals to your projector. In any case, the best thing for the sound is to run all sound sources to a reciever/amp and play everything through the best speakers you can afford.
There are dozens of good buys out there, with different features you may or may not want. (For example, I always look for lens shift, which is the best way to correct out keystoning effects.) The best resource for comparing, including user reviews, can be found at

Be sure to read everything in their Buyer's Guide, it's great.
There should be no distortion regardless of how large you project (lens shift should remove all distortion), although the larger you go (a) the farther away you will have to sit to see the picture normally; and (b) the more light (lumens) you will need from the projector itself. Manufacturers usually specify the largest size screen that would be acceptable based on their lumen output.
