Will I need a converter box if I have an external ATSC Tuner and this TV?

I'm confused about whether or not I need a converter box in addition to an external tuner. Also, can you recommend a good ATSC tuner that would work well for this television? I don't have cable, so I'm looking to get the most out of the channels that I do receive.
A converter box is a ATSC tuner. You don't need two things.
These converter boxes are sold at Target, bestbuy and Walmart.
Hopefully you already got your converter box coupons from the government ($40) because the money is gone and there are no details on when the extra transition money is coming.
The boxes run about 49 bucks. They are all pretty cheap, I don't see any hi-end ones, I think all of them are just good enough to get the job done.
I used to see those more pricey one's when over the air digital was new-ish about 4-5 years ago, but I don't see those around so much now.
